“I’ve submitted my application. I’m open to temp work, and I believe the interview went very well! So, why hasn’t my recruiter called me with a job placement?”

This can be a frustrating situation, and we understand what you’re feeling. Searching for a job, whether temporary or direct hire, can be a lot of work for both the candidate and the recruiter. In a previous post, we shared the methods we use to ensure that we find the best candidates and make the best match between employers and employees. Although we always want to put you to work as fast as we can, this process may mean that the right position is not always immediately available.

So here are a couple of things we encourage you to do while your recruiter is working on your placement:

Keep in touch

You should call or email us once every 1-2 weeks, and simply let us know you are still available. If you’re recruiter isn’t available, that’s ok! Anyone in our office can update your availability in our system. We have a large database of candidates, and when we update your availability, you populate higher in our in-house searches. A brief, thirty-second phone call or one-liner email will do; we know you are busy too.

Keep your skills fresh

You can request for your recruiter to send you tutorials for various Microsoft programs. Take some time to refresh your knowledge on the programs you will be working with for the type of job you are pursuing. Look for training, certification (and recertification), and continuing education opportunities. By ensuring that your training and certifications are up to date, you are guaranteeing that you are ready to go when your recruiter calls you with a position. As you go through this process, update your resume.
